📘 AssistBird App – Problem & Solution Report
1. Introduction
Government services are essential during important life events — from childcare and healthcare to employment and housing. Yet the current system is fragmented, difficult to understand, and overwhelming for many Australians.
As a team, we designed AssistBird, an AI-powered app that makes government services more intuitive, accessible, and efficient for everyone.


2. Problem Definition
Australians often struggle to:
Navigate multiple government websites and portals.
Understand complex eligibility rules and forms.
Access services quickly during stressful life events.
Overcome language and accessibility barriers.
This leaves many people confused, discouraged, and at risk of missing the support they need.
3. Our Solution – *AssistBird*
AssistBird is an AI-powered mobile application that solves these challenges.
Key Features:
AI Guidance: Ask questions in plain language (e.g., “How to get a Medicare card?” or “How to apply for childcare support?”). AssistBird replies with clear, step-by-step answers.
Automatic Multi-Language Support: No settings required — just type in your preferred language, and AssistBird instantly understands and responds in the same language.
Inclusive Design: For job seekers, renters, newcomers, and anyone who finds current systems overwhelming.

Our vision is to transform how Australians interact with government services. AssistBird acts as a Assistant — answering questions instantly, in any language, and guiding people.
With AssistBird, government services become simple, seamless, and accessible for everyone.

The code is available from GitHub and can be run locally - just enter your own AI API key.
Powered by AI: The Gemini API receives the question and responds promptly in any language.
