Empower Kiwis to be better with their money.

Create a personal finance personality tool that analyses and categorises New Zealanders' financial behaviors using open public data, integrating AI to offer personalised recommendations for kiwis to be better with their money.

It's no secret that most of us could improve at managing our money. Whether it's due to a lack of tools, having no financial plan, limited financial literacy, or simply not having enough money, there are many reasons why we struggle to take control of our finances.
In this challenge we’re going to focus on the tools part, this challenge is to develop a user-centric tool that first identifies an individual's money personality by leveraging publicly available data on personal finances in New Zealand. Participants will utilize datasets such as household savings rates, expenditure patterns, and financial literacy & wellness survey results to design a tool that categorises users based on their earning, spending, saving, and investing habits. By integrating a GPT model, users can interact and ask questions, the tool can then generate tailored financial guidance and strategies to help users improve their financial scores. The tool should provide real-time feedback and actionable insights, guiding users from being earners and spenders to becoming proactive savers and investors.
The aim is to educate users on where they financially stand now, and what they need to do to improve the way they’re managing their money. Managing money can be daunting and full of the unknown for people, so it’s important to make the tool feel personalised and like the user is talking to a friend.

Bonus: Utililise Akahu to allow kiwis to connect their accounts to this tool and use those data feeds to analyse their spending and income trends to provide more enriched advice.

Eligibility: • The tool must not act as a financial advisor such as providing financial advice on Kiwisaver, Investment options, Insurance and mortgages or any other loans.  Datasets to Highlight: • National Household Savings Rate (Stats NZ or similar sources) • Consumer Spending Patterns (government open data) • Household Debt-to-Income Ratios • Financial Literacy Data (survey-based datasets) • Investment Behavior and Trends (regional data from Stats NZ)

Entry: Challenge entry is available to all teams in Aotearoa New Zealand.
