Project Description

The Close the Gap Campaign strives to narrow health and life expectancy disparities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians within one generation. It recognizes the enduring resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

The endeavor is a shared journey, aiming to empower Indigenous people for healthier lives. By involving Indigenous voices in policy creation and execution, positive outcomes are achieved. This endeavor demands structural shifts in government interactions with Indigenous populations.

Goals- We aim to build a solution for connecting the government and the first nations people aids in Closing the Gap. There are three main problems that we need to address:
1. How do we build trust with the first nations people between the government?
2. How will the outcome benefit both entities?
3. What are the potential methods, such as offering incentives, to stimulate greater establishment of trust?

Data Story

We used datasets from the National Indigenous Australian Agency, Australian Institute of Health Welfare, and an essential poll which has been visualized by Guardian Graphic.

There is a lack of data relating to the following potential factors that may be related to the existence of the gap, including affordability, previous experience of racism, and the patient's choice. We consider gather these data directly from First Nations individuals and devising potential solutions.
