Project Description

VSafeRoute is an AI-powered web application designed to improve cycling safety and infrastructure in Victoria. By integrating Victoria Crash Data with the Principal Bicycle Network (PBN) data, the app identifies high-risk routes for cyclists and provides data-driven insights to guide infrastructure modifications. These insights enable urban planners and policymakers to make evidence-based decisions, promoting safer and more sustainable cycling routes. The project aims to enhance the state's cycling corridors, reduce accident hotspots, and encourage cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation.

Data Story

  • Victoria Crash Data combined with Principal Bicycle Network (PBN) data to improve cycling safety and infrastructure.

  • By integrating these datasets with real-time spatial data and multi agent AI-based web applications, our team identified high-risk routes for cycling

  • This insight led to targeted infrastructure modifications, improving cyclist safety and promoting cycling as a sustainable transportation option.

  • Reusing existing data enabled efficient, data-backed decisions without needing new data collection.
