Objective
The project aims to use AI tools to improve Australian Government content by applying the Australian Government Style Manual. It focuses on making communication clear, accurate, accessible, and inclusive, while ensuring it follows Australian English conventions. The goal is to create solutions that can be easily integrated into existing workflows and benefit both the government and its users
Data Story
As Australians, we take pride in our democracy and the diversity that shapes our nation. Our various government departments are filled with dedicated individuals working tirelessly to drive change and progress. However, a significant challenge we face is effectively communicating these changes to the public. Often, the information is too complex or inaccessible due to language barriers and other factors. To address this, our team has embraced AI technology to enhance the speed, accuracy, and clarity of our communications, ensuring that vital information reaches everyone more effectively.
Project Description
We have developed a comprehensive suite of content creation tools designed to support government personnel in communicating effectively with the public. Recognizing that policy documents often come in PDF or DOC formats filled with complex bureaucratic jargon, our tools streamline this process from start to finish, ensuring that communication is clear and aligned with government style guidelines. The only task left for government personnel is to perform a final review before dissemination.
Our suite includes:
- AI Content Creator: This tool summarizes complex policy documents, extracting the essential information needed for effective communication.
- AI Content Editor: It then takes the summarized information and rewrites it to adhere to government document styling, ensuring formality and consistency.
- AI Content Translator: This tool translates the content to accommodate Australia's diverse population, making information accessible to non-English speakers.
- AI Content Reader (Optional): This feature supports individuals with disabilities by converting text to audio, allowing them to listen to the information instead of reading it.
We believe these tools will significantly enhance the efficiency and speed of information production across government bodies. Looking ahead, our goal is to develop an additional tool that will integrate and summarize content from multiple sources, enabling batch announcements such as monthly newsletters, to further streamline communication.
