Tourism is one of the major sources of income for the smallest state of Australia. COVID-19 has hit the local community and small businesses the hardest. B-Here enables people to explore different places in their area. This app is designed to support local businesses and the local community in Tasmania by motivating people to explore new places around them.
Users of this app will earn points for exploring and visiting these places. The more they explore, the more points they gain, boosting local tourism and the economy of that area. Local businesses can provide offers to redeem using points such as discounts or free items.
By utilizing Tasmanian Heritage data, and user-generated content, B-Here displays points of interest on a map of the users surrounding area, along with a list of challenges. By completing these challenges (for example, take a selfie with a statue in city park), the users will earn B-Here points that will encourage them to support small businesses, providing a boost to the local economy.
B-Here is not only an awesome GovHack project, it will become a real app in the coming weeks! Head over to our website (www.b-here.com.au) to find out more!
